Power of anonymity | Daily #228

I believe anonymity is a power. Not to the point where you hide behind an anime avatar or Reddit-generated username. But the point where most people don’t know what you do or even who you actually are.
With this power, nobody can reach you unless you want to. Nobody knows what you can do. Nobody knows who your connections are. Nobody knows how dangerous you are.
I never understand people that post ALL their successes, failures, or even not trivial things on social media. While I do write loads in public, I rarely share anything too personal whether they were amazing or sad.
I came across loads of social media presence by many people that share private matters. Private matters that are too private. What they do. How much money do they make. Who their relationships are. Their locations. What they eat. Their sadness. Their happiness. Their weaknesses.
I won’t ever do that. Most people I know IRL don’t know what I do and I like to keep it that way. Besides my thoughts on certain matters, knowledge in some domains, and career progression, you will rarely know too private things about me.
