Music is so interesting | Day #71
I’ve been listening to ‘old’ songs that were released between 1990 and 2010. These songs now hit me very differently.
I grew up with (English) artists like User, 2Pac, Akon, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, MJ, 50 Cent, Missy Elliot, and many more. Mostly R&B and Hip Hop songs.
For some reason, these songs give me more energy and focus than the current ones. I’m literally rapping/singing the songs in the background while being completely focused on coding.
This doesn’t happen that often with the songs that are being released.
I think it has something to do with the ‘drops’ that is so well-liked now. The music suddenly drops and changes rhythm immediately in a very hype and good way. But it disrupts the flow for me.
Old music usually keeps the rhythm somewhat the same with some slight adjustments. That works better for me.
Of course, music and rhythm are very subjective. I know people that like techno music in the background cause there are no lyrics. Which is kinda logical, cause when you think in year head, it may get congested with the lyrical music. This is less the case with only rhythm music.
But for me, the lyrics make me hyped as well. I code much faster and in bursts. Which I like.
I just think music is so interesting cause it is kinda different for everybody.
