Day #67 | Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa is one of my favorite character and movie franchise.

Today, I’ve watched the first movie again and it is amazing as always.
Based on a true story, a nobody suddenly gets a chance to start his story against all odds.

Then proceed to defy all expectations, train hard, and confront his life for the better.

Now the movie franchise has grown more and even went as far as the film-series of Creed.

Rocky Balboa is for me a role model of movie action heroes.

I don’t like the fact that the action heroes people look up to nowadays are imaginary characters. They usually randomly got their superpowers from somewhere or were born with it included with an imaginary hard backstory.

Even though Batman is one of my favorite characters (maybe cause he is the closest to being a human-like figure).

Action heroes from the past were usually based on real-life stories. Working hard, physical training, struggles, acting, and more to become an actor/hero. Examples are Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, and many more.

Those were some of the people we looked up to.

Nowadays we look up to an imaginary character like Iron Man or Captain America. Which can’t be farther away from real life.

Nothing wrong with that, maybe it is just the new times. But for me, action heroes of the past are way cooler than the comic book superheroes of now.
